At Farnborough International, supporting our local community is about more than providing a venue. It's about giving our time, skills and energy to causes that make a real difference across the region.
On Thursday 1 October, members of the Farnborough International team stepped away from their desks and spent the day volunteering at the Phyllis Tuckwell warehouse as part of a community action day organised through CMP. The day gave colleagues the opportunity to support the charity's vital fundraising operations while making a tangible contribution to an organisation that provides compassionate care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
Working alongside the Phyllis Tuckwell team, volunteers sorted an incredible volume of donated items, helping process approximately 320 bags of clothing, alongside several large collections of bric-a-brac. The scale of the achievement was significant, with the charity estimating that the work completed in a single day would have taken one person around two weeks of full-time work to accomplish.
The impact of the team's efforts was felt across the warehouse, with staff and volunteers from the charity commenting on both the amount achieved and the positive boost it provided throughout the day. Following the event, CMP shared feedback from Rachel, who passed on the charity's thanks:
"Please can you pass on a massive thank you to everyone who came to the Phyllis Tuckwell Warehouse today. The charity were absolutely thrilled with everything you got done, and it really lifted the spirits of so many of the staff and volunteers."
Community action days like this provide valuable support to local charities while giving our team the opportunity to connect with organisations making a difference in our region. We're proud to have played a small part in supporting the incredible work carried out by Phyllis Tuckwell and would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time and energy on the day.
