Local Community
We’re proud to play an active role in our local community—supporting events, volunteering initiatives, and educational outreach. Through ongoing involvement and meaningful connections, we’re committed to making a positive difference.
Community Initiatives
CMP Volunteering Days
Farnborough International has partnered with the Community Matters Partnership (CMP) on multiple volunteer days, supporting a range of community-led projects in and around Farnborough. They’ve joined CMP initiatives such as the Annual Volunteer Day at Reg’s Community Garden — a formerly private garden adjacent to Farnborough North Station that’s now a public green space. Volunteers carried out tasks like clearing brambles, trimming bushes, painting benches and planters, and general maintenance to prepare the garden for spring planting .
Supporting local Rushmoor events
At Farnborough International, we’re proud to play an active role in supporting our local community in Rushmoor. Throughout the year, we work closely with local partners and authorities to contribute to a variety of well-loved public events that bring people together and celebrate the area’s vibrant spirit.
From Armed Forces Day and Victoria Day to Music in the Park and Picnic and Pop, we are proud to support local events. Our team is committed to ensuring Farnborough and the surrounding area remains a thriving, inclusive place to live, work, and visit—while honouring the area's heritage and creativity.
Sticky Wicket - UK Event Industry Charity Day
Farnborough International recently took part in the Sticky Wicket charity cricket match, joining industry colleagues for a day of sport, camaraderie, and fundraising in support of the Lord’s Taverners—a charity dedicated to empowering disadvantaged young people through cricket.
The event raised an incredible £50,000, all going toward creating inclusive opportunities for young people across the UK. A huge thank you to the organisers, participants, and everyone who made the day such a memorable success. It was a fantastic reminder of the power of sport to bring people together—for fun and for good.
One Day at Christmas
On one day each December, the UK’s events industry aims to give something back to local communities by recreating a Christmas party for people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to take part in Christmas festivities.
Mash Media's One Day At Christmas initiative takes place simultaneously in national event spaces across the UK, including Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre.
We invite and bring together lonely, vulnerable or elderly people from our local area for a Christmas lunch and afternoon of entertainment; and we need some help to make sure we reach the right people.
Box4Kids - Barrie Wells Trust
Farnborough International works with Box4Kids to invite seriously ill children to enjoy events including Farnborough International Airshow and The British Motor Show from the comfort of executive boxes. The boxes provide a safe and relaxing environment for children and most importantly the opportunity to be treated like a VIP for the day. These much deserved experiences provide quality time for each child and their guest, away from the day-to-day challenges they face with their illnesses. Often, boxes are left empty at events and this provides the Trust with fantastic opportunities to fill these boxes with deserving children. Organisations are able to simply donate their boxes to the Barrie Wells Trust for individual events and the Events team then handle all the logistics for the day.
Screen Skills Workshops
Farnborough International Studios recently welcomed a group of students onto site for an engaging and inspiring day in collaboration with ScreenSkills, aimed at supporting the next generation of talent in the film and television industry.
The students took part in interactive sessions, heard from industry professionals, and explored the studio’s world-class production facilities. The visit offered a valuable behind-the-scenes look at careers in screen, helping to build awareness and confidence among young people considering a future in the creative industries.
Farnborough International Studios is proud to support initiatives that develop industry skills and connect emerging talent with real-world opportunities.
Inspiring the next Generation
Farnborough International recognises the next generation of event and filming professionals. We offer a schools outreach programme and are proud to celebrate and support opportunities for all through site visits, participating in programmes and careers fairs with local schools, colleges and universities. In addition we support educational leads to ensure they are up to date with communications on industry developments.
