Farnborough International Ltd (FIL), organisers of the Farnborough International Airshow can today report that sales remain positive for the biennial event despite increased competition from other trade shows. With over six months still remaining before the commencement of the show (14th – 20th July 2014), FIL can confirm that exhibition space is almost 80% sold with a growing international presence.

France, Switzerland and Japan have all increased the size of their Pavilions at the show and has seen some interested from businesses in the MENA region.  As well as growing international participation, the event has also seen an increase in first time exhibitors from across the supply chain. To date just over 16% of applications received have come from new exhibitors.

Speaking about FIA’s positive sales, FIL Commercial Director, Amanda Stainer said, “Strong demand for the show is a real reflection that the international trade event continues to offer a global platform for business and delivers what our exhibitors are looking for.  This is a result of meticulous research, development, planning and marketing.”

Over the past few shows, FIL has worked hard to diversify the trade show to offer more for its exhibitors. This has seen the development of dedicated zones in Space, Intelligent systems (previously the unmanned systems showcase) and innovation, a targeted conference programme, a Meet-the-Buyer event, and a civil and military delegations programme. The Space zone remains incredibly popular and is already sold out and the Intelligent Systems zone is generating interest as the event has expanded after the success of the Global Intelligent Systems conference in 2013.

New to the 2014 show is the development of the SME Lounge and dedicated SME packages. Working with ADS, the trade association for the Aerospace, Defence, Space and Security sectors and in line with the Aerospace Growth Partnership (AGP), FIL has developed these features to assist that UK SME participation at FIA.

Speaking about the dedicated SME facilities, FIL Chief Executive, Shaun Ormrod said, “In order for UK aerospace manufacturers to remain competitive amongst increasing international competition, we want to offer them an international platform to showcase their products and services. Our special packages and dedicated SME Lounge will we hope provide them an opportunity to take space at the show.”
