FARNBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW LOOKS TO INCREASE ROTARY PARTICIPATION AT 2016 SHOW

Representatives from Airshow organisers, Farnborough International Ltd (FIL) will be in
attendance at Heli-Expo to meet with potential participants of the forthcoming Farnborough
International Airshow which takes place from 11-17 July 2016. Head of Sales and Sponsorship, Karen Wakefield (formerly Griffith) and Sponsorship & Advertising Manager, Emily Barton, will both be in attendance.

FIA has always had a rotary presence with manufacturers such as Bell Helicopter, Augusta Westland, Boeing and Finmeccanica showcasing their latest technology. For the 2016 show, FIL are looking to increase participation from other manufacturers and service providers with particular interest in the SME companies working in the sector.

Speaking at the forthcoming show, Karen Wakefield commented, “FIA specialises in the civil and defence markets with delegations attending from both of these sectors. In 2014 we had 81 defence delegations and 13 civil delegations with the anticipation that the civil delegation attendance will double in 2016. With this in mind, we believe that FIA is the perfect platform for the Rotary sector to showcase their products and capabilities to a global audience. Furthermore, with no military showcase for rotary aircraft in the UK, FIA should be an attractive option for operators in this sector looking to increase their profile and showcase their products.”

Exhibition sales for the event have been extremely positive to date with 75% of space already booked or reserved. Along with the exhibitors that have signed multi-show deals – Airbus, Boeing, GKN, Thales and Martin Baker – confirmed bookings have increased compared to the same period in the 2014 show cycle with many exhibitors increasing presence for FIA16.

Speaking about the show, FIL Commercial Director, Amanda Stainer, said, “We are overwhelmed by the extremely positive demand to secure space for FIA2016 which can only reflect that we’re delivering a dynamic event for the international aerospace community. As we move forward with the development of FIA16 we’ll be working closely with all our exhibitors to deliver relevant content for the show that both our visitors and exhibitors will find valuable.”

FIA16 will also be looking to build on the success of FIA14 with more international participation. Stainer further added, “No other show provides a global shop window from all sectors of the aviation industry and we would encourage those international companies be they in MRO, Rotary, UAS or any other sector of the industry to contact the sales team at FIA to learn more about how the event can help them.”

Plans for FIA16 are now well underway and FIL, are looking to make some significant enhancements to the show in response to the exhibitor and visitor research. These include more networking and engagement opportunities, a larger civil delegations programme, improved participation initiatives for MRO, Rotary and Manufacturing Technology customers and enhanced exhibiting options for international and SME companies. The Space and UAS zones are now an integral part of the show and the Innovation zone will once again see increased presence.
