CHILDREN FROM LOCAL HOSPITALS INVITED TO VIP DAY AT FARNBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW
170 children and their families from local hospitals will enjoy Farnborough International Airshow’s public display on 16th and 17th July whilst being treated like VIPs in corporate chalets. The chalets have been donated by Kallman Worldwide, Embraer and ATI Metals to the Barrie Wells Trust to invite children as part of their Box4Kids initiative.
Box4Kids is a nationwide scheme inviting seriously ill and disabled children to enjoy VIP experiences in executive boxes at major sporting and entertainment events. Farnborough International Ltd approached the Barrie Wells Trust in late 2015 following an appearance on BBC Breakfast where Barrie Wells appealed to box holders to come forward and support Box4Kids.
Shaun Ormrod, Chief Executive of Farnborough International, comments “We are delighted to be supporting the Barrie Wells Trust with their Box4Kids initiative. Supporting charities is an integral part of the culture here at Farnborough and we look forward to welcoming the children and their families to give them a day to remember. We have had some fantastic support from our official contractors, emergency services and other agencies and this collaboration and partnership has provided huge resources to help make this happen.”
Barrie Wells, founder and sole funder of the charity, says “Farnborough is a most extraordinary event and we are thrilled to fill these chalets with so many deserving children who I am certain will have an amazing day out with their families. It’s always humbling to see the impact of these VIP experiences, and Farnborough will be no exception.”
The Barrie Wells Trust works with a network of over 50 hospitals across the country to nominate children for Box4Kids events. For Farnborough the Trust liaised with a range of hospitals, hospices and charities, including Royal Marsden Hospital, Evelina Children’s Hospital, Royal Alex Children’s Hospital, University College Hospital, Teenage Cancer Trust and CLIC Sargent.
Tom Kallman, Kallman Worldwide President and CEO comments “We were extremely pleased to learn about Box4Kids and immediately agreed to support the program. It is a fantastic initiative which in a simple way helps facilitate supporting our community.”
