Read MoreThe 49th Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) will mark the start of the biggest summer events season the UK has ever seen in 2012. The eyes of the world will focus on the UK as the best FIA ever is launched ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
A biennial event held every other year, FIA is the world’s largest temporary exhibition and premier aviation expo. In 2010, the show attracted some 250,000 visitors over a period of seven days and hosted 1455 exhibitors from 40 countries. Now well into the planning stages of its 2012 event, FIL has taken great care to ensure that the ease of attending for its exhibitors and visitors is as seamless next year as always in this Olympic year. The Airshow team have been working with Visit London and FIA Official Accommodation Provider, Zibrant, rooms have been reserved in advance and numerous other official contractors appointed to ensure that it is business as usual in the run up to the Airshow.
FIL has also been working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Olympic Air Restrictions Committee to secure special dispensation from the air space restrictions put in place as a security measure for the Olympics so that the Airshow can stage its four-hour flying displays during the public weekend on 14th and 15th July.
Shaun Ormrod, Chief Executive of FIL said: “2010 was a massive year for the Farnborough International Airshow and we are planning to make 2012 even better. We are adding more new and innovative features to the show and we intend the air displays to be the most diverse and impressive we have ever staged. We hope that many people visiting the UK for the Olympics will attend the airshow too and celebrate the start of what will undoubtedly be an exciting summer.”
Ends – 20 June 2011
